Total Eclipse

I have just finished watching the 1995 film 'Total Eclipse' starring Leo Dicaprio and David Thewlis. I was attracted to watch the film when I discovered it, as Leo is one of my all time favourites, and David Thewlis is Professor Lupin in Harry Potter (one of my favourite saga's of all time!)

Overall, the film is very cute, but also depressing and quite morbid at times. It is very, very slow-moving, so if you're into fast-paced films, this isn't one for you.
But, as I said, it's very cute and it shows a beautiful relationship between a 16th Century man and teenage boy, who are also both talented poets, which gave the film a kind of Shakespearian twist. The film displays how they deal with segregation from each other, the issues that shine through as they know they are being unlawful, and, especially with Arthur (the younger boy), how he handles the vivid depression that arises as his lover Paul juggles being with his own wife and family, while also continuing their love affair.
In conclusion, if you like old-fashioned films about forbidden love and broken hearts, this is a great watch ◕‿◕
